Metatone's 5 Favorite Moments from MMW 2019

You can bet that when the last week of March rolls around, Miami Music Week is the only thing on our mind.

This year marked the 9th edition of the week-long celebration and conference, where hundreds of thousands of diehard fans make the pilgrimage to the 305 to see the very best in each genre of electronic music at some of the world's most renowned clubs and venues.

This year surpassed any previous iterations for us because not only did the majority of Metatone's artist roster perform at this year's Miami Music Week, but this was the first time every member of the Metatone team (artist roster included) got to be in the same room at the same time. While getting to bring everyone together for the first time was memorable, nothing could compare to the highlight reel of parties and series of burning hot tracks to come after it.

We could reminisce for days on which one was our favorite. Since we could never choose just one, here are the following moments that made this year's MMW an unforgettable week.

World Famous Miami at the Clevelander Hotel

If there is a location that epitomizes South Beach, its the Clevelander Hotel. With its open beachside pool and bar, the Clevelander is a familiar sight to anyone who has walked down Ocean Drive. This staple of south beach is a destination for many and served as the perfect venue to start off MMW for the Metatone team. Our very own Dead Space kicked off the week's festivities with a sunny rooftop set. A little rain didn't ruin this party and served as the perfect warm up for our next gig a few hours later.

"Dead" Space Yacht in Wynwood

Ask anyone about a Space Yacht party, and you are guaranteed to hear about zealous fans, raucous crowds, unparalleled dancefloors, and midnight pizza. With no rest from the Clevelander show, Dead Space teamed up with John Summit to rile up the crowd like the best of them. A testament to the pair's talent, Space and Summit didn't miss a beat, syncing up perfectly to deliver sure-fire banger after banger at one of the nation's most renowned parties.

Corona Beach B2B with Westend

Dead Space is no stranger to the sandy floors and ice-cold brews at Corona Beach. This time was different though as it was the first time he performed with fellow Audiophile alum, Westend. If you based your judgement of the pair's history on the crowd’s reaction, you would think that the two had been performing together for years. "Dead-End" created a unique blend that had the dance floor locked in for the entirety of their set and had us wondering why these two hadn't performed together sooner.

John Summit Freaks at 'Psycho Trippin'

Having released two EPs with the label, John Summit is no stranger to Psycho Disco and did not hold back when he finally got the opportunity to play at one of their events. Sophie's in Miami Beach holds a dark ambience that proved to be the perfect setting for the collaboration event between the Psycho Disco and Trippy Ass Technology labels. Sharing the line up with legendary artists like Bad Boy Bill and Christian Martin, Summit filled his phenomenal set with nonstop bass and breaks and shined as a highlight of the evening.

Kyle Walker Dives In at Bite This!

Kyle Walker serves up a special brand of dark, dank, dirty house and did not disappoint at the "Bite This" label showcase. Fresh off his release of his latest single, "Infection" via Jauz's label and dapper as ever, Kyle showed exactly why there is so much buzz around his name. With a hypnotic blend of eerie atmospheres, beastly basslines, and house grooves, Kyle's set was easily one of the most hyped of the night. Hot off this epic performance and with several more tracks set for release with some familiar labels, 2019 is shaping up to be a breakout year for the turtleneck tactician.

The life lasting memories of MMW may still be fresh in our minds, but we are not planning on slowing down anytime soon. On the contrary, we are more inspired than ever and as we tend to do, stacked the upcoming weeks with shows that we know you'll love.
